In 1999, Geshe Michael was approached by Doubleday Publishing / Random House of New York to write a book about his experience in helping to build Andin Diamond into a $100 million operation by using ancient Buddhist principles of generosity and wisdom.
This resulted in the publication of The Diamond Cutter: The Buddha on Strategies for Managing Your Business and Your Life. This has become an international bestseller translated into 20 languages and is currently used by companies, universities, and more than a million individuals around the world.
A tenth-anniversary edition issued in 2010 included success stories by users of the book, ranging from a professional ballerina to two secretaries in New York who used the book to help build a billion dollar advertising company from scratch.
The sequel to The Diamond Cutter is Karmic Management: What Goes Around Comes Around, in Your Business and Your Life, written with Lama Christie McNally and Michael Gordon (founder of Bumble & Bumble Corporation)–which within two weeks hit the bestseller charts in the Asian edition.
Geshe Michael has also written The Garden: A Parable (Doubleday, 2000), a mythical meeting with famous masters of Buddhism from the last 2,000 years–a book which some see as partly autobiographical.
He is the author of a trilogy on the subject of yoga:
The Tibetan Book of Yoga (Random House 2004)
The Essential Yoga Sutra (Doubleday Three Leaves 2005)
How Yoga Works (Diamond Cutter Press, 2005), the last of which is considered a yoga classic, presenting the essence of the Yoga Sutra in the form of a novel.
A study of the ancient interaction between ancient Christianity and Buddhism, The Eastern Path to Heaven–A Guide to Happiness from the Teachings of Jesus in Tibet, was published by the Episcopal Church´s Seabury Press in 2008.
A major work on Tibetan art and history, King of the Dharma: The Illustrated Life of Je Tsongkapa, was released in 2010.
Audiobooks for a number of Geshe Michael´s books, read by the author himself, have been issued by Audible Inc, a subsidiary of Amazon Books.
